Human Anatomy & Physiology   5th-6th   (Mrs. Turner)

anatomyThis study of anatomy and physiology teaches the intricacy and design of the human body, from DNA and cell creation to the skeletal, muscular, digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous/endocrine, immune, and integumentary systems.   In-class experiments & projects and at-home notebooking assignments provide reinforcement of concepts outside of reading and help solidify understanding.  Students can expect to have weekly homework assignments.

Anatomy Notebooking Journal, both by Jeannie Fulbright

Student Materials: pen/pencil, colored pencils, scissors, tape with handheld dispenser, glue stick, supply box

Middle School PE & Health   5th-8th   (Mrs. Johnson-Caskey)

This Health and P.E. class will promote physical exercise, skills development, sportsmanship and nutrition. The class will begin with prayer, followed by calisthenics, coordination skills or jogging, skill development (teaching session), and fun games which often incorporate the skill being taught.

Middle School Writing & Grammar  5th-8th   (Mrs. Collier)

The Fix It! Grammar program by the Institute for Excellence in Writing uses stories to teach usage, grammar, and punctuation concepts in an enjoyable and engaging way. Students will complete short daily assignments to hone their grammar skills.

The IEW Student Writing Intensive lays a solid foundation of writing skills. Over the course of the year, students will learn how to effectively use a wide range of structural models and stylistic techniques in their compositions, as they write on a variety of enjoyable topics. No previous experience is necessary.
